Injured Adult Birds with Large Beaks (owl, hawk, heron, etc.)

These birds can hurt you! Beware of sharp talons on feet. Use caution when picking up these birds and put them securely in a box. Wear goggles to protect your eyes when handling herons or other birds with long necks and sharp beaks.

Call TWRC if you need help or guidance in rescuing one of these birds.

TWRC accepts only screech owls but can give referrals for other owls, hawks, and wading/water birds.

On occasion we have access to rehabbers who accept raptors and large owls, but always call before coming to the center with an injured bird.
